Hey, Thuy! Be careful of your behavior!
"I'm sick of her behavior," says one of Mai Phuong Thuy's fan. "In my opinion, Miss Vietnam or Miss Whatever should behave in a proper way. I admired Thuy for a while because I thought she was nice and clever. However, she has become less and less likeable to me since I found out that she uses bad language, that she is dating several guys at the same time, that she affiliates with the ill-mannered people..."
Are these words just from a disappointed fan or has Miss Vietnam really changed her manners? Just have a look at one of Thuy's Blog:
Guys in my life
Uhm. The only reason why I'm writing in English is either for Alex to read or to practice my already damn bad writing. Anyway, let's get right to the point. yeah, Guys that come into my life. Of course there must be a lot but I've picked out some really unique. For sure, they must be ones I like the most.
I'm pretty sure people who've known me for long aren't of any surprise if i put Duong Nguyen on the top of the list....
Duong Nguyen...
- uhm...to be honest he is my first love. <now I'm beginning to be tired out due to writing>.
- emotional, intelligent and arrogant sometimes.
- has spent two years with me, although we parted he is still somewhat of importance to me...
Alex Selivanov
- 4 years older..., characterized by his incredible tolerance for me
- caring, understanding, sobering..whats more? ah, a very handsome guy!!! the only one whose appearance really catches my eyes.
Mr Dawn <Binh Minh>
- critical, intelligent but haphazard sometimes...A Casanova. rumour has it he is labeled as most wanted guy by his students.
- I've known him for more than two years.his advices are precious to me as i can see a big brother inside him.what I've always wanted is for him to be happy and please stop refusing to eat out with me!
Nguyen Quoc Long and Le Hoang<they are on the same league>
Hoang remains my friend despite lots years of changes. uhm, characterized by a mixture of predictable and unpredictable actions. uhm
- carefree, devoted, absent minded and poor restraint. he loves eating.
Long: fashion follower.... considerate but sometimes very emotional. personally i like the way he pictures himself as a celebrity and his opportune appearance when needed
Spencer Johns
- currently working for Nike
- we were on the same flight to HCMC. he asked for my autograph and a coffee. hehe, finally he ended up in his bed snoring as being tired out from work.
- one email every month and he cheered me up all the time. whats more exciting than to know there's someone at the other side of the whole Pacific Ocean and he is missing you.
The Military Guy
- Very handsome and kind but it doesnt mean he's not old fashioned
- My grandfather's pet. He likes him so much... I like him as he knows how to live happily ever after
Joe Ruelle
- earns enough fame so i don't want to refer to his profile
- been my friend for 2 months
- smart, hilarious
dunno if he is happy to be in this list
good luck Joe, hehe, you're damn good chicks chaser!!
UHM, these guys here don't line up so that they can win my heart, so plz dun be mistaken
Maybe Thuy is too young to understand that the words like "damn good chicks chaser" can't be used by a Miss Beauty, but she should realize that being beautiful from inside is more valuable than becoming a Miss just because of a fast-withering face.
Good luck, Thuy!

Miss Vietnam enters top 17 at Miss World |
| 11:39' 02/10/2006 (GMT+7) |
|
| Mai Phuong Thuy. |
VietNamNet Bridge - At the final night of the Miss World Pageant in Warsaw last Saturday, Miss Vietnam Mai Phuong Thuy was selected as one of the top 17 candidates.
Of a grand total of 400 beauty queens from different countries competing for Miss World 2006 title in the capital city of Poland, the 18-year-old Miss Czech Republic, Tatana Kucharovaa, was crowned as the new Miss World this year.
At the pageant, 17 beauties were selected as regional representatives. Organisers announced two representatives for each region, one who was selected by the examiners of the pageant and one who received the most votes from audiences. Organisers decided that Asia Pacific will be the sole region, which had three representatives.
Thuy got the ticket to the semi final competition as she was the one who got most votes in comparison to other candidates from Asia Pacific. Together with Thuy, Miss India and Miss Australia beat others to go further at the pageant.
Unfortunately Thuy was not selected as one of the eight beauties to compete for the crown at the final round.
Right after the Miss World final pageant concluded, Thuy talked to the press about her feelings about the competition.
Congratulations! How did you feel when the MC read your name as one of 17 most beautiful candidates for the final round?
It was a surprise for me. I was very happy and proud of that. I thought finally all of the efforts I had made brought me success in this pageant.
How did you feel, as this is the first time you attended an international pageant?
Admittedly I have to say that, I don’t have much experience or appropriate skills for an international beauty competition like other candidates from other countries. However, I was confident of other things I have. For example, maybe my skills on stage like walking were not really as smooth as others’ but the beautiful dress I wore, which according to many well known designers is beautifully traditional made me fell more confident in the competition.
What do you think about the organization of the whole competition in general and the final night in particular?
The competition was really well organised. Organisers of the pageant had worked hard to make it become a professional and attractive show.
What made you feel most happy in the final night?
The encouragement of Vietnamese audiences as well as people from other countries made me feel so touched. Even though entry ticket for the final night was very expensive (ranging from EUR250-2000) many Vietnamese people still came to support me. The image of the Vietnam’s flag as well as the call “Vietnam” are very encouraging to me.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to Vietnamese audiences for their support, the sponsor as well as other organizations which have helped me to compete at Miss World 2006 pageant.

| Miss Vietnam to appear mysteriously Oriental |
|
14:28' 20/09/2006 (GMT+7) |
|
VietNamNet Bridge – Viet Hung, designer for Miss Vietnam Mai Phuong Thuy, just departed for Poland where the Miss World Pageant is being held to provide assistance to Thuy during the competition. Before leaving Vietnam yesterday, Hung talked to the press.
Could you tell us about the dress that Miss Vietnam Mai Phuong Thuy will wear for the final night?
The dress was made of materials that can be found in Vietnam such as silk, tussore, glass-beads, lame etc. It’s all hand-made and weighs about 10kg.
In order to finish the work on time, 40 skillful tailors, workers had to work for about one week and we have just finished it.
How about the idea for the dress?
We decided that Thuy will appear on the stage of the pageant in the style of a mysterious eastern beauty. The long black dress is the emphasis and Thuy will have a simple make-up, which will highlight her natural beauty.
We really hope that what we have decided will make her dress and her beauty look special in comparison to other candidates.
Do you have any prediction about the result of the competition?
I don’t have any prediction as Miss World is a hard beauty contest. But when talking to Thuy, I have always told her that in a difficult contest like Miss World she should perform naturally proving to everybody that she is who she is and people will find the goodwill as well as how terrific she is.

Miss Vietnam unhurt and well; Internet story just rumor |
|
|
| Miss Vietnam, Mai Phuong Thuy (M) with beauties from other countries in Poland |
| The Vietnamese embassy in Poland denied rumors that the Vietnamese competitor at the Miss World pageant met with an accident in which her face was disfigured and assured she was in the thick of the competition.
|
|
Mai Phuong Thuy’s mother too confirmed her daughter was well.
In the last few days there have been stories on the Internet saying Thuy had a car accident. There were even photos of a girl with facial injuries sprawled beneath the wheels of a car, purportedly Thuy.
The caption said: “Miss Vietnam Mai Phuong Thuy met with an accident while shooting for F-Fashion magazine …. As a result Vietnam has withdrawn from Miss World…”
The photo created a sensation in Vietnam where people began to call up Tien Phong newspaper, modeling agency Elite, and Thuy’s family.
Counselor at the Warsaw embassy, Tran Thanh Cong, said the office had contacted Miss World organizers who had assured that Thuy was well and participating.
The embassy had also spoken with Thuy.
Cong suggested the rumors might have originated in Vietnam.
Thuy’s mother Nguyen Phuong Lan said Thuy was trying to adapt to the Polish weather and food and expressed gratitude for the support Vietnamese fans gave Thuy.

Vietnam representative left out of Miss World voting list
|
|
| Miss Vietnam 2006 Mai Phuong Thuy |
|
The Vietnamese press and millions of her compatriots are indignant that Miss Vietnam 2006 Mai Phuong Thuy has been left out of a list of Miss World candidates for whom the public can vote. | |
|
The website of the 56th Miss World, being held in Poland, claims “International judges have their say alongside global vote” but it appears to be mere hype.
Thanh Nien readers complained they were unable to vote for Thuy since she was not in the list.
Thanh Nien correspondents verified the complaints by trying to vote for Thuy on the website http://missworldvote.client.ninesystems.com/signup.php but found they could not either.
She has, however, been allotted the voting code MW 117.
Each contestant is allotted a three-digit number for mobile SMS or WAP voting, online via www.missworld.com, or via national media in specific territories.
Viewers can text the code of their favorite contestants to the broadcasters’ short-code mobile number.
Voting closes on September30, eight hours before the final.
Asked about the problem, modeling agency Elite, which represents Thuy, said it had faced the same problem last year when Huong Giang had represented Vietnam.
Thuy Nga, an agency official, said organizers had then informed that communications expenses involved in the voting must be paid in advance.
But people had voted freely through the Internet for Miss Vietnam Nguyen Thi Huyen at the 2004 Miss World pageant.
Tien Phong newspaper, the organizer of Miss Vietnam 2006, was also astonished to learn that Thuy was the only contestant left out of the global vote.
Tien Phong deputy editor-in-chief Nguyen Ngoc Nam said he had written and faxed a letter to the Vietnamese embassy in Poland.
Thuy’s trip appears to have been jinxed from the start. A few days ago there were rumors circulating on the Internet that she had had a car accident, creating a furor in Vietnam.
The Miss World competition began on Sep.2 and will last one month. |
